Matériaux Innovants pour l’Energie

The MIE team focuses on understanding the mechanisms involved in the manufacture of materials. A major part of the team’s work is dedicated to studying the behavior of complex fluids under flow, confinement and instabilities occurring during film lamination or extrusion. The team uses these skills to design new materials for energy. The main focus is on recovering the energy stored in vibrations and thermal gradients to power low-power electronic devices. Research focuses on the development of electrostrictive, piezoelectric and triboelectric materials, electrodes for batteries, and the recovery of energy stored in junction potentials. The team works on understanding the physical mechanisms involved at particle level, as well as on device design.
